That Fateful Day: 22 November 1963, 1:30 PM, EST

Carl Ruth, Sr. (Nov. 22, 2013) It was a traumatic moment for a nation enthralled with a presidential leader that loved his country, and a country that loved him. One that bravely and heroically served his nation during World War II, as our young men and women have done since its birth. Why does it seem that many of our heroes pass on before their work is done? God’s plan for His children is mysterious at best. These were just a few of my thoughts on that fateful day, 22 November 1963, 1:30 PM, EST.

A Veteran’s Sacrifice

Nick Cain (Nov. 20, 2013) It’s funny how little we grasp outside of our day-to-day circle. Ideas may fly by all the time in passing, online or on the news, but not much sticks. We get enough of the material to comprehend what’s being said, if we’re interested enough to pay attention in the first place, before our mind is onto something else more vivid in our own world. We are passengers on a train. Trying to learn something about the tree we see through the glass window is impossible at 80 mph. Learning about another person in our car is much easier. I was the man on the train in my understanding of a veteran’s sacrifice before Remember Heroes.

A Subtle American Perk

Bill C (Nov. 17, 2013) There is a subtle sense of camaraderie that Americans share as a result of our country’s willingness to protect not only American freedoms but the freedoms of our friends and allies around the world. I was reminded of this when my wife and I visited Israel for a one-day guided tour of the Holy Lands.

While He Is Gone

Bobbi Pack (Nov. 12, 2013) It’s that day…. the day I have waited nine long months for….. 270 days… I am ready for the clock to strike that magic number and tell me to go to pick up my knight in shining green. Yes you guessed it–my soldier is returning to US soil today! Even though I have been through deployments before, it never gets any easier. It always rips my heart out to tell my soldier “see you soon”.

1,299,413 Heroes

Mike Merit (Nov. 11, 2013) 1,299,413 Americans have been killed in action in all the wars that United States has officially participated in.  That’s how many pairs of boots I had the responsibility of filling when I took the oath and stood on those yellow footprints June 9th, 1998.

The company planned to launch its service of decorating veteran’s graves with fresh flowers on October 1st. However, on that same day the national government shut down for the first time in 17 years.
